Not just since the Civil War. The South was at a serious economic disadvantage before the War even started. And it has really never gotten much better, barring some temporary booms.
That is a point, indeed, though I think someone said Tennessee was in really bad shape the other day on my flist.
Wellllll, you and I know that:) But most people, and that's a broad generalization, think of the carpet baggers bad and the sharks after the Civil War doing their dirty deeds gone bad;>
