Okay non fic reading flist, y'all know the drill. Please ignore this ifn ya don't read fic.
Now for the fic readers. This is something way off my usual reading style.
First, I don't usually read human au about the vampire characters. That's a whole essay by itself. But suffice it to say that I like my vamps to be vamps, not human.
Second, I don't read much Spangel. In fact the last Spangel I read was by Jans_intentions, which has now been pulled from the web because she's writing commercially now.
However, I started reading this fic. I expected to get fed up with it before it really started. But it surprised me, grabbed my attention and hung on to me through the whole story.
The plot is excellent, the writing is very good. This is a meaty story that you can sink your teeth into. There's a lot of realism, and it's angst and gritty in places. This story is very intense. The author did a bang up job, and it rivals or surpasses many of the commercial stories I've purchased from the book store. This story is 51 chapters long, completed and your interest won't flag.
This I believe is the very first Human AU I've read. And I enjoyed it immensely.
Warning: M/M, violence, language, attempted suicide and discussion of it, drug abuse and addiction, alcoholism, and a touch of D/s. I think that's covers it.
Enjoy!
