Yahoo is closing down Geocities web pages, permanently, on July 1, 2009.

Just a short note:

If anyone knows any authors that have a Geocities website. Please, please, let them know that Yahoo is closing down the Geocities web pages. The latest news I have is that this will happen for good on July 1, 2009. That gives us a month to try to contact the page owners that haven't heard the news. We've lost a lot of sites and stories, Spander, and other, in the last few years. I'd hate to see any more disappear forever. I know there's a lot of fic on Geocities sites, Gypsy Gray being one that I recall right off the bat. And Kirasmommy. So if anyone knows how to contact these folks that have stories on Geocities, ask them if they would please, please move their stories to an archive, or find another free web host for their pages, so we can continue to enjoy the stories. There are still people discovering and reading these fics for the first time:) I'd hate for anyone to miss out on all these great fics, and never know that they were there. It feels like pieces of the BTVS and ATS fandoms are dying when a site disappears. I'm sure there are other fandoms with pages hosted on Geocities as well.
