Ashdon Farms Voluntary Recall of Girl Scouts Pistachios Containing Pistachios Recalled by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc. (April 9)
Fri, 10 Apr 2009 09:30:00 -0500

Ashdon Farms, Waukesha, WI, announced a voluntary recall involving certain code dates of 7.5 oz Girl Scouts Pistachios packed in pop top cans. This recall is in response to the voluntary recall of pistachios announced by Setton Pistachio of Terra Bella, Inc. on April 6, 2009 as a result of possible Salmonella contamination.

************************

There have been a bunch of pistachio recalls, I haven't posted them all due to not having the time right now, but visit the FDA site and look at the recalls so you don't buy any of those products. Sigh, I think I'd just not buy anything containing pistachios for a while.

They corrupted Girl Scout cookies for heaven's sake!

We suddenly got popular in the last hour -- over 20 new followers! Where'd everyone come in from? :) -Mark about 1 hour ago from web.

I really don't use Twitter much. Maybe once or twice a month. Anyway, I was on there checking the Twitter news from AT&T about their service outage in Silicon Valley. Someone cut some cables out there and thousands of folks were without a phone or internet. For a lark while I was there, I decided to see if DW was on Twitter. You were, and I added you to my list, LOL. So there ya go, or at least that's what the deal was with me anyway:)

Texas fines PCA plant $14 million
The Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) assessed the Peanut Corporation of America's (PCA) Plainview plant—implicated in a nationwide Salmonella outbreak—$14.6 million in administrative penalties for allegedly violating state food safety regulations. The charges include unsanitary conditions, product contamination, illnesses from peanuts processed at the plant, and operating for nearly 4 years without a state food manufacturers license. The TDSHS said PCA can pay the penalty, ask for an informal conference to discuss the allegations and penalty, or request a formal administrative hearing.

No source found on E coli O111 outbreak
In a final report on the nation's largest Escherichia coli O111 outbreak, linked in August 2008 to a Locust Grove, Okla., restaurant, officials said they still don't know the food or environmental source of the pathogen, though the investigation revealed that it was a point-source outbreak. Investigators weren't able to determine the mode of the outbreak, though they said evidence suggests ongoing E coli O111 transmission to restaurant patrons between Aug 15 and Aug 24, 2008. The outbreak was linked to 341 cases, 70 hospitalizations, and 1 death.

Tests show no Salmonella in NY pistachio plant
The New York State Department of Agriculture (NYSDA) announced today that food and environmental samples from a Setton Farms facility in Commack, N.Y., were negative for Salmonella. Kraft Foods previously found four Salmonella strains in Setton Farms pistachios used in certain brands of trail mix, and the findings have sparked a national recall of many products that contain pistachios. No illnesses have yet to be officially linked to the contaminated pistachios.

Office Depot: Brother inkjet all in one printer 69.99

Click on the view by brand, then Brother, and it will show you all the printers on sale. There are three for 69.99. Two All In Ones and a mono. The mfc 290c is the model I owned previously, and if I could have gotten it for 69.99 before Christmas I would have, but they were all 100.00 and more. So I got the newer model for on sale for 79.00, LOL. And I like the placement of the ink cartridges much better on the newer model.

The 99.00 Brother MFC-490CW is the model I have, and it's a decent home printer. The printer I had before I bought this one was a Brother mfc 290c and lasted for five years. The ink cartridges on the Brother MFC-490CW are easier to change because they're on the front of the printer. And I like the ink level monitor that sits in my task bar. It also has wireless networking. So you can share the printer with the other computers in your house:) I dunno if you can print wirelessly remotely though. I've been satisfied with the Brother brand. It doesn't gobble ink. And you can replace just the cartridges that run out of ink. I have a place where I buy refilled cartridges so I only pay about 7.00 per cartridge, but I'm looking at a refill kit so I can do it myself. The 99.00 printer is a good buy.

Amazon has the MFC-490CW for 94.95 with free shipping and no tax. Here Last week they were 129.00 because I looked, LOL. Amazon probably lowered the price because of the sales in several places. They do that to compete and undercut prices on other web sites. I got mine in December for 79.00 with free shipping and handling from Amazon. so 20.00 isn't too much more.
